American Medflight maintains two fully staffed
and equipped bases in the eastern and western
regions of Nevada. Our full time presence at
each base consists of highly experienced pilots,
critical care flight nurses and critical care
flight paramedics that provide the 24 hour 365
day coverage to support the communities we
serve. The locations of our bases in Reno and
Elko Nevada also provide an immediate response
time to quickly transport patients to critical
care facilities in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City,
San Francisco, or Reno, all within an hour
flight’s time.

Golden Hour of Critical Care
Our overlapping service areas of the eastern and
western regions of Nevada provide that extra
coverage to help lessen the transport time
within the “golden hour” of critical care. Most
medical experts agree that the chances of
survival are greatest if definitive care is
provided by a trauma facility within the first
hour after a severe injury. American Medflight
cares about each patient, each flight and each
family member that accompanies their loved one
on a flight. Unlike many air ambulance
companies, family members are encouraged to
accompany their loved ones at no additional
cost.

Reno, Nevada Base
American Medflight’s main base is located at the
Reno Tahoe International Airport, Reno, Nevada,
close to the state and federal agencies that
maintain our aviation and medical certifications
and licenses. We regularly interact with the
Federal Aviation Administration, the Nevada
State Nursing Board and the state Emergency
Medical Services to ensure proper regulatory
oversight and compliance with all applicable
laws and regulations. Our Reno base also is
co-located with our sister company Reno Flying
Service which provides immediate 24 hour
aircraft maintenance support to our medical air
ambulance aircraft. The Reno base supports the
western half of the state as well as borderline
communities in California such as Susanville,
Bishop, Mammoth and Lone Pine.

Elko, Nevada Base
In 1997, the Elko, Nevada base was formed to
support the eastern part of the state. Flying
over thousands of missions since it began, the
Elko crew supports many community events
including local rodeos, Aviation Fly-Ins and
health fairs.

Our commitment to exceptional medical care is
evidenced by the strong community relationships
we have formed over the past decade. Our local
medical and flight crews are well respected in
all the surrounding communities and are
well-known faces in the hospital emergency
rooms, which eases the transition for the
patient and family members.
American Medflight regularly offers
specialized classes for volunteer fire
departments, mine safety officials and emergency
responders.
